How We Became Co-Hosts On The TV Series, Negotiators Luxe (the story behind the story)

Early one Sunday morning in January of 2020 our friend, Tammy who lives just up the street from our Dayton House in western Pennsylvania sent us pictures of a tree on top of our porch roof. And that, my friends, was just the beginning of the Dayton House Renovation Project

This story will set the stage for how and why we became Negotiators on the new nationwide show, which streams globally, called, Negotiators Luxe™.

Renovating a 2,000 square foot gutted house over 300 miles away is no easy task. And neither is having an Amish contractor who doesn’t have a phone. It's working out, albeit it has it's challenges. And what's important is that we've learned a few things along the way (well, maybe more than a few).

When COVID-19 hit in the year 2020 it was like a double-edged sword. Not only was our real estate business going to be negatively affected (by the way, our clients made settlement on March 23, 2020, the very last day before real estate was shut down as it was listed as a non-essential business) but the cost of home building materials skyrocketed like no one has ever seen before. To make matters worse, we weren't renovating just one house, we were renovating two houses. Another long story short goes like this: While we were away in Dayton checking on the renovation progress of our Dayton House, at home, our under-the-sink water filter hose decided to free itself from the valve after Dave, our then neighbor and cat sitter, left after the evening feeding. The next morning when he returned, Dave found a flood in both our kitchen and dining room. Judging by the amount of water, we had no doubt the water had been gushing all night long. So, to sum it up, within the same year we had not one, but two insurance claims that caused us to repair the damage and then to rehab and renovate. What are the chances? All we can say is that God knew what He was doing. Good thing because we didn't.

While COVID shut down and slowed down our real estate business, mold remediation in Dayton (that's a story for another time) and renovations at both of our homes kept us beyond busy.

Let's fast forward to this year, 2023. We're still in renovation mode at the Dayton House and we've put the brakes on renovations at our house because for one, it takes up too much time and energy, and two, it costs too much money to renovate two houses at the same time especially since COVID hit. Thankfully we were able to get the bulk of the work done at our house, so we don't have much left to do. But at the moment, because the Dayton House is going to be an income-producing property, we decided to concentrate on its completion.

In the meantime, we've also been brainstorming ways to revamp our real estate business. On this side of the 2008 market crash and COVID-19, we knew that doing business like we had done in the past wasn't going to work. I have been hard at work researching, taking classes, and spending time looking for that marketing niche that will spring us forward and rejuvenate our business into what we envisioned it to be. This is where Negotiators Luxe™ comes in. So, let's get to the backstory of how this came about, and how it almost didn't happen.

It was spring of this year, 2023, April 6th to be exact, when I received an email from Mariah Kalhor, a real estate broker in Oklahoma and the national host of Negotiators Luxe™, inviting us to "join [an] elite private program..." But wait! Why did that sound familiar? Was it because the year (or two) before I had received a similar email most likely from Mariah about a real estate show which I'm sorry to say, I chalked up as a scam? You guessed it! So, what did I do? I once again deleted the email being skeptical and suspicious. But then, something happened. My mind went into reverse and I thought that I shouldn't be so quick to judge and that maybe I should check this out. I quickly retrieved the email from my deleted folder and immediately went into fact-checking mode. I called Mariah wanting to make sure she was indeed a real person. Mariah answered the phone and assured me this opportunity was real and not a scam. However, I still wasn't convinced. After my conversation with Mariah, I did some more digging. I saw some comments on Mariah's Facebook page from Krista Mashore, a real estate coach, mentor and author. I had just taken a three day real estate bootcamp with Krista! Wow! That was what I needed!  I was finally convinced. Not only that, I realized pretty quickly that Negotiators Luxe™ might just be that unique opportunity we had been looking for to jumpstart our real estate business and take it to the next level!

Negotiators Luxe™ is brand new TV show featured on Reveel Entertainment. William Cheverie, president and co-founder of Reveel is now our new friend. He's also an excellent actor (look him up). My mom loved Telly Savalas and Willliam definitely has "that look."
